About the Role

As our Social Media & Marketing Intern, you'll play a key role in growing Discover Queer's digital presence and community. Working directly with our Founder & CEO, you'll help shape how our brand shows up online through thoughtful storytelling, creative content, and strategic marketing.

This isn't an internship where you'll simply complete assigned tasks. We're looking for someone who enjoys bringing fresh ideas to the table, taking initiative, experimenting creatively, and helping build an emerging brand from the ground up.

Because we're a small (but growing!) business, you'll have a front-row seat to entrepreneurship and gain hands-on experience across social media strategy, brand marketing, email marketing, analytics, and digital growth. Your ideas won't disappear into a large marketing department—they'll help shape the future of Discover Queer.

What You'll Do

  • Help manage the day-to-day execution of Discover Queer's social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms

  • Brainstorm and create engaging content aligned with our brand voice and audience

  • Design graphics, edit videos, and create short-form content using Canva, CapCut, or similar tools

  • Maintain and execute our social media content calendar

  • Schedule and publish content across platforms

  • Monitor engagement and help foster community through thoughtful interactions

  • Research LGBTQ+ travel trends, destinations, creators, and industry conversations

  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and content best practices, bringing fresh ideas to the team

  • Track weekly performance metrics and identify insights, opportunities, and recommendations to improve future content

  • Assist with email marketing, newsletters, and lead magnet promotion

  • Support occasional marketing, branding, and creative projects as Discover Queer continues to grow

Who You Are

  • Curious, creative, and excited to learn

  • Passionate about storytelling, digital media, and creating content that connects with people

  • Excited about LGBTQ+ community, travel, or both (bonus points if you're passionate about both!)

  • Entrepreneurial and energized by helping build something from the ground up

  • A self-starter who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and figuring things out

  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with our Founder

  • Open to giving and receiving thoughtful feedback

  • Familiar with Canva, CapCut, or similar creative tools (experience with social media scheduling tools is a plus)

Details

Location: Remote

Time Commitment: Approximately 5–8 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

Compensation: $1,000 per quarter, paid in two installments.
